The PVCMed Alliance recently convened with Amgros to discuss the ongoing use and recycling of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in pharmaceutical packaging and medical devices, spotlighting environmental advancements made over the last two decades. Amgros plays a critical role in the Danish healthcare system, ensuring the efficient procurement of medicines for public hospitals with a focus on sustainability.
Key topics included the achievements of the VinylPlus® Med and VinylPlus PharmPack initiatives, which are central to recycling medical devices and PVC in blister packaging, respectively. These programs illustrate the commitment of the European PVC industry to reducing environmental impacts through innovative recycling strategies.
Additionally, significant progress in developing DEHP-free blood and plasma bags was presented, notably by RENOLIT Healthcare.
