02/05/2013Launched in 2011, VinylPlus is the new ten-year Voluntary Commitment to sustainable development of the European PVC industry. Today was the second and last day of the first Vinyl Sustainability Forum, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Bringing together speakers and delegates from within and outside the PVC industry value chain, big news were announced at the Forum: VinylPlus had a record 362,076 tonnes of PVC recycled last year, keeping it on track to meet the challenge of recycling 800,000 tonnes per year by 2020. Also, in 2012 VinylPlus registered a decrease of 76.37% in lead stabiliser consumption in the EU-27 compared to 2007 levels, well on track to complete the substitution by the end of 2015.
PVCMed Alliance’s project manager Ole Grøndahl Hansen spoke at the event, presenting the Alliance’s activities to the audience that counted industry, NGO’s, EU and UN representatives.
