28/11/2022The European PVC industry's initiative to make the use of PVC in Belgian healthcare more circular gets recognition at leading award show for global vinyl innovations.
VinylPlus® received Bronze in the Circularity category for its VinylPlus® Med project on the ‘collection and recycling process targeting non-infectious PVC medical consumables’ at the INOVYN Awards held in connection with K Fair on 20 October 2022.
Building on the successful RecoMed scheme in the UK, VinylPlus® Med was launched in 2022 to help Belgian hospitals sort their PVC medical waste. VinylPlus Med is a partnership between waste mangement companies, plastic recyclers and the PVC industry and has been implemented in 10 hospitals around Belgium more than 30 on the waiting list. The collected DEHP-free medical devices can be turned into a wide range of useful products to be used in the health sector.
A record-breaking 130 projects from over the world were submitted this year, demonstrating once again the PVC industry’s drive for innovation. 32 projects were submitted for the Circularity category. 17 projects were awarded in total.
