13/04/2015The Plasticisers Conference is the annual two-day rendez-vous in Brussels where the plasticiser industry and PVC value chain meet with regulators, scientists, retailers, consumer associations and NGOs. The 2014 edition had three main focuses:
- Regulation: “Global regulating developments on plasticisers” with a focus on Europe and REACH, US and Asia
- Science: “New scientific evidence concerning exposure to plasticisers”
- Benefits of plasticisers
PVCMed’s Ole Grøndahl Hansen spoke about how VinylPlus and PVCMed boost sustainability credentials for plasticised PVC. In his presentation, Mr. Grøndahl emphasized that a whole range of alternatives exist to classified phthalates, hereby allowing society to benefit from PVC’s unique properties for patient comfort, economic affordability and hospital hygiene. He also highlighted the implementation of smart and sustainable management systems for medical waste, which present an opportunity to shed a positive light on (mainly plasticised) PVC products, the synergy with the controlled loop objectives of VinylPlus as well as sustainable use of additives and sustainability awareness.
