1-year delay for implementation of Medical Device Regulation highly probable due to coronavirus

Coronavirus is currently the number one challenge for the global healthcare sector and medical device value chain. In light of the situation, the EU Commission has announced its intention to postpone the implementation of the Medical Device Regulation for one year. The original deadline was 26 May 2020. According to the EU Commission, “the goal is to submit this proposal in early April so the Parliament and Council can adopt it by the end of May, its deadline for entry into force.”
